When I was still completing my undergraduate degree in Canada, I never expected to be heading south of the border for medical school. Through a series of events, I ended up deciding to apply to a US medical school in addition to my Canadian application. I submitted my US primary application at the end of September, right before it was due. I had no idea that this put me at a serious disadvantage because of rolling admissions – the first of many differences between applying to medical school in the US that quickly became apparent to me. Luckily, I still ended up being admitted – resulting in a 4-year stay in the United States as I work towards my MD.

I really would have benefited from someone who had gone through the same path I did. I’m also not alone – there are hundreds of Canadians at US medical schools just like me.

That’s why USMD.ca is offering free application review and informal advising for Canadian applicants to US medical schools. Our reviewers are current or former Canadian medical students at top US medical schools, many of whom have professionally reviewed applications in the past.

Reach out via the Contact page and we’ll do our best to connect you with one of our volunteers, who will reach out to you.

Best of luck!
